Upcoming Events
The Vigil
On June 6th, a number of commemorative events are being planned to mark the one-year anniversary of the attacks. The YCCI is taking leadership in planning the vigil in partnership with the City of London and several other local Muslim organizations. The purpose is to create a space for community healing. The vigil will be taking place at the site of the crash in an effort to reclaim the space. The YCCI youth involved in the vigil committee have taken leadership in setting the agenda, choosing the speakers, and dictating how they would like the evening to unfold.
Walk
The solidarity march is our largest project, planned for Sunday June 5th. Last year's interfaith walk following the attack brought a crowd of a few thousand and we expect the same this year. Participants will come from all communities in London as it is open to the general public. The event is run specifically by and for Muslim youth however, so the target audience is young Muslims in the city of London with everyone else participating to show support.
Several high profile attendees are scheduled to participate including Dr. Omar Suleiman.
